A Bright Winter’s Day at Peterhead 1
Peterhead, on a bright but bitterly cold day in January 2004. Strong winds blow the sea back on itself. My hands are so cold I can barely use the camera and I have to lean against the sea wall to steady myself. The sky is dark and promises horizontal snow later. The seagulls are in their element - the wind that reduces me empowers them and they soar and dive above an apocalyptic landscape. This image captures the clarity of that afternoon and reminds me the exhilaration I felt at being there.
