Coast

These images were taken around Newburgh and Forvie on the Aberdeenshire coast.

This is a long sandy coast with extensive systems of sand dunes. Parts of it put one in mind of the Sahara desert, parts seem as remote as the moon, parts are so devoid of landmarks that one can become disoriented and lost - even in a small area.

On sunny days it is bright with light reflected off the waxy surfaces on the dune grass. It usually seems to be windy. In winter, high winds whip sand and sea spray into one's face.
